Columns are playful seating elements made from a dense and colourful foam. François Dumas has been invited by Moustache, a French design company based in Paris, to take part in the exhibition and auction ‘Favoris’ during Paris Design Week. The intent of ‘Favoris’ was to introduce unseen and remarkable pieces, in order to grant interiors with more unique objects. Dumas chose to work with his beloved foam material, as it is fun to work with and unconventional, seldomly used for objects or interiors. As often for him, inspiration came while making and whilst going back and forth between small scale models and constructions. Foam profiles are assembled in long hexagonal columns shapes that are then cut and reconstructed into geometrical and poetic compositions making seating elements that are suitable for a domestic environment.
