The collaboration between François Dumas and Camper started on the occasion of a 10 days workshop in Mallorca. Dumas was then introduced to the world of leather crafting and became interested in a wooden strap cutter, a tool that allows cutting leather into thin stripes. Drawing directly on a wooden shoe last and following the contour of the foot, the repetitive pattern of the imagined overlaid leather pieces created a kind of contour map. Thin leather stripes were then binded around a wooden shoe last to reproduce the original idea. This crafted piece motivated the development of an industrial version interpreting the handwork, the time spent and the craftsmanship. This line of shoes was produced for the spring/summer 2014 collection. It was made with advanced tools cutting the different parts in stripes following the construction of the shoe.
